The wisdom of our head told us that thousands of lives were affected and torn apart by Hurricane Katrina; the wisdom of our heart told us children with cancer still need our help. Honestly, the 2005 Blessings In Adversity campaign did not turn out as we had hoped; however, we are still on course to give one day’s operating expenses of $1 million to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It is going to take us longer than originally anticipated; however, we are still 100 percent committed to our goal as we strongly believe in the St. Jude mission of “Finding cures. Saving children.”
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Blessings In Adversity campaign, it is an annual fundraiser started by entrepreneur and St. Jude Dad Frank Lunn to raise awareness and funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The campaign is a way for Frank to give back as St. Jude saved his son Frankie’s life during his battle with leukemia in 2002. Frank strongly believes in entrepreneurial philanthropy grounded in leverage, value and partnership, and has started Kahuna Charitable Foundation as a way to give back. www.kahunacharitable.org
